LYNN — After eight years, One Mighty Mill on Exchange Street is set to close on July 1.
Co-founder and baker Tony Rosenfeld spoke of the “pride” they have felt since opening on Sept. 6, 2018. Known for delicious baked goods, including bagels, the staff at One Mighty Mill is made up almost entirely of Lynn residents, who have fostered a family-like atmosphere within the bakery over the years.
“It’s really special that a lot of these folks have been with us since the start,” he said of his staff. “I think that’s really gratifying to kind of build a family.”
The store itself has served as a staple in Lynn and even featured a view of the bakery through glass windows, reflecting both the rich history of the steel mill and the unique experience One Mighty Mill provided to the community.
“Stone mills were always communal places to gather, and we also wanted to add another layer to that and make it a place that you could eat,” he said. “We wanted to immerse ourselves in a community, and I think Lynn, you know, represents the best of all of us. It’s a mixture of a ton of cultures and people.”
With that, Rosenfeld hinted at the possibility of opening another location in the future, though whether that will actually happen remains unclear for now.
“I think there’s also optimism that we will build another test bakery open for the public, but I think on that — there’s uncertainty about when and what that will look like,” he explained.
