LYNN — Lynn Public Schools hosted the final day of the fifth grade track and field championships Monday. Bolting up and down Manning Field, more than 350 participants made it their mission to become the fastest in Lynn.
Sisson Elementary School had the most participants with 83, followed by Connery (82), Tracy (75), Callahan (67), Lynn Woods (41), and Fallon (8). Across the four meet days, nearly 1,000 students from 18 Lynn elementary schools participated.
The event differs from most across the country. It isn’t limited to select athletes or tryout-based, and includes a full range of running events (50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m), field events (standing long jump, softball throw), as well as a 4x100m relay.
