VIRUS CASE SPIKES SEEN IN REVERE

Cases continued to surge in coronavirus hot spots, Lynn, Peabody, Revere, and Saugus on Wednesday.

All four communities reported double-digit case increases while numbers remained the same or were not updated in several other North Shore towns.

In Lynn, 63 new cases were reported to bring the city’s caseload to 7,288. Of that total, 1,080 cases are active, 129 people have died, and 6,079 have recovered, according to city data.

Peabody has reported 83 new cases and three additional deaths since Monday. The city now has 2,120 cases, 204 deaths, and 1,276 people have recovered from the virus, according to the health department.

In Revere, 49 new cases were reported to bring the city’s total numbers to 4,173 cases and 112 deaths, according to the city website.

Saugus has reported 23 new cases since Monday to bring the town’s caseload to 1,190. The town’s death toll remained at 45, according to the town website.

Lynnfield also reported nine new cases to bring the town’s caseload to 273. Fifteen people have died from the virus, according to the town website.

Numbers remained the same in Nahant (91 cases, six deaths) and were not updated in Marblehead or Swampscott on Wednesday.

As of Monday, Swampscott had 253 cases and 11 deaths. Marblehead (359 cases, 30 deaths) has not provided updated numbers since last Friday.
