VIRUS CASES SURGE IN LYNN, REVERE, SAUGUS

Lynn reported another triple-digit increase in coronavirus cases on Thursday, and cases also spiked in Revere and Saugus.
In Lynn, 139 new cases were reported to bring the city’s caseload to 8,958. Of that total, 1,561 cases are active, 137 people have died, and 7,260 have recovered from the virus, according to city data.
Ninety new cases were reported in Revere, which now has 5,233 cases and 119 deaths, according to the city website.
Saugus has reported 70 new cases since Monday, which brings the town’s total numbers to 1,625 cases and 46 deaths, according to the state Department of Public Health (DPH).
In Marblehead, 44 new cases have been reported over the past week. The town now has 485 cases and 31 people have died, according to the DPH.
Swampscott has reported 34 new cases since Monday to bring the town’s totals to 380 cases and 11 deaths, according to the town website.
Twenty-eight new cases were reported in Lynnfield, which now has 436 cases and 16 deaths, according to its town website.
Numbers remained the same in Nahant (108 cases, six deaths), and were not updated in Peabody, which had 2,886 cases and 212 deaths as of Wednesday.
