LYNN — There are many stakeholders who make up the Lynn Public Schools community — students and families, teachers and administrators, support staff and elected officials. Through a new venture started by Superintendent of Schools Molly Cohen, people will have a chance to get to know some of them better.
“A Super Conversation” is a podcast hosted by Cohen that will offer a close look at some of those stakeholders. The format is just what the title indicates, a free-ranging discussion intended to be light, but meaningful.
“I’m excited to have these conversations,” Cohen said. “I think viewers and listeners will enjoy learning more about people they may be familiar with and discovering some information they may not have known.”
That happened for Cohen in the first episode, in which she had has her guest Mayor Jared Nicholson, who also serves as chair of the Lynn School Committee. In asking the mayor what originally drew him to the city, Cohen discovered a family connection which she had not been aware of, as well as his favorite food and books.
“The mayor is in the spotlight all the time, but I think we broke some new ground with his appearance,” Cohen said. “I appreciate his agreeing to be the first guest. He set the bar high!”
The first episode of “A Super Conversation” was taped at the Lynn Classical TV studio and produced by TV teacher Sean Donahue and students Isaiah Gravell, Kavyn Kheav, Diego Palma, and Jacob Smith. LPS Assistant Director of Curriculum & Instruction Shannon Bansfield also worked on production.
“Involving students in this venture is a priority,” Cohen said. “Their level of skill and expertise is impressive and I am grateful for their support.”
“A Super Conversation” will air on Lynn Educational Television (LETV) — Channel 8 on Comcast and Channel 36 on Verizon at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 16, 19, and 22. It will also be posted on the LETV YouTube Channel — youtube.com/@Lynneducationaltelevision/videos — with plans for the audio version to be available on additional podcast platforms.
