Lynn Classical’s girls basketball team has won a state tournament game on the road for the second consecutive season. The No. 41 Lady Rams clipped No. 24 Falmouth 43-38 in Friday’s Division 3 preliminary round.
Classical led 24-19 at halftime, but Falmouth mounted a comeback and jumped ahead by three points. From there, the Lady Rams “dug deep to weather the storm,” according to coach Tom Sawyer.
Divine Egbuta led Classical with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and four steals. Helping the cause were Evelyn Diaz (9 points, 6 rebounds) and Mia Duncan (8 points, 5 rebounds), who netted a pair of clutch free throws late.
Deleisha Perez-Vazquez (5 points) buried a fourth-quarter three to give Classical the lead for good, while Jada Tejada (4 points) chipped in a big steal and layup in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Rams (13-4) visit No. 9 Hanover (12-8) Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

In a Div. 1 showdown, Feehan (18-4) took care of home-court business in Attleborough. The Tanners wrapped up with a record of 15-7 behind coach Stan McKeen.

Marblehead’s offense had its moments, but the Magicians (13-8) struggled to contain Doherty Memorial in Div. 2 action.
GIRLS HOCKEY

No. 30 Marblehead 0
In the Div. 2 Round of 32, Marblehead met its match against Duxbury. The Lady Headers bowed out with a record of 5-14-2.
TRACK AND FIELD
St. John’s Prep found success in the MSTCA Pentathlon Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. Tyson Stroope won the overall event, breaking a school record with a score of 3,636 points. The Eagles won the team title for the fifth consecutive year, breaking their own school and state records. Will Quigley and Alex Turrisi scored 3,051 and 3,035 points, respectively.
