State tournament roundup: Fenwick girls run over Lynnfield

Bishop Fenwick’s girls basketball team, ranked atop Division 3, had it going during Tuesday night’s state tournament game in Peabody. The Crusaders defeated No. 16 Lynnfield 56-29 in the Sweet 16.

Fenwick’s dynamic duo of Celia Neilson (25 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals) and Caitlin Boyle (13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals) led the charge. Reese Spurchise chipped in six points and four assists.

The Crusaders (17-5) will battle No. 8 Pentucket Regional (18-5) in the Elite 8 (TBD), while the Pioneers bow out with a record of 14-8.

BOYS HOCKEY

No. 9 Essex Tech 4
No. 8 Marlborough 0

In Div. 3 action, Essex Tech came to play against Marlborough inside of Navin Arena. The Hawks (13-7-2) jumped ahead with three-first period goals, courtesy of Teddy Tsoutsouris, Braydon Connors, and Cam Casey. Connors struck again with 8:03 remaining in the third period to send the visitors to the Elite 8.
