To the editor:
For a long time, I knew of Wayne Spritz just as a guy who is on Swampscott’s Solid Waste Advisory Committee, and he likely had a vague impression of me from my involvement in volunteer efforts around town. Then Wayne became aware of a few issues important to my nonprofit, Speak Up For Animals. As someone deeply invested in protecting our environment, he didn’t hesitate to help.
Wayne offered me concrete ideas and backing on aspects of humane rodent management at specific public sites. He engineered a method to save ducklings from washing down a drain at Foster’s Pond. He encouraged my advocacy against balloon releases and further educated me about recycling and composting. He was happy to connect me to other sources of support.
Wayne is a realistic but tactful advisor, an analytical problem-solver with a sense of humor, and thoughtful about competing perspectives, including those controlled by finances. He is an all-around decent person with a passion to contribute his knowledge and skills to the collaborative efforts that improve and maintain municipal function. His experience with our town’s workings is readily apparent.
So now I know of Wayne Spritz as a guy who should be on Swampscott’s Select Board.
