A brush fire broke out on the Lynn–Saugus line Thursday, causing both fire departments to respond when the call came in from State Forestry, according to Lynn Lt. Denis Ring.
“The fire actually split between Lynn and Saugus up behind Birch Pond off of Walnut Street,” Ring continued.
The Lynn Fire Department responded with three engines, a ladder, and the district chief.
“Companies were up in the woods all day into the sunset last night. The fire did burn a total of 23 acres, and they had it fairly contained last night when they left the woods,” he said.
State forestry returned to the woods Friday morning and found that the fire had stayed within its fire lines and there was no active fire.
“They’ll continue to monitor the area to see if there are any changes. Right now, they don’t suspect there will be, given the current weather,” he said.
