PEABODY — The Stage One Association of Patrons (SOAP) and Peabody Instrumental Parents (PIP) are putting on their third-annual drag bingo event at the Knights of Columbus upper hall, located at 96 Main St., on May 12 from 6-8 p.m. as a way to fundraise for the Peabody Veterans Memorial High School’s Performing Arts Department.
The evening will feature local drag performer and PVMHS graduate Maxine Harrison, who will perform in between the bingo rounds.
“It’s so great to support a Peabody High graduate,” SOAP President Suzie Reed said. “She is such a great performer.”
Reed emphasized that this is a wholesome, family-friendly event, and it will be the final fundraiser of the school year to benefit Peabody Performing Arts.
“It’s really fun, and the kids love it because, I mean, they’re in the performing arts (department), so they totally have a blast,” Reed said. “And the parents come, and they have a blast. It’s just really a fun time.”
To get tickets, which are $25/person and include one bingo card for each round, visit tinyurl.com/SOAPdragbingo. You can also purchase tickets at the door. Additional bingo cards will be sold for $5/each at the event.
There will be themed prize baskets ready for each bingo round’s champion, with prizes ranging from a karaoke microphone to sports equipment to wellness products. There will also be concessions like candy, popcorn, soda, and water available and a 50/50 raffle.
“The more the merrier,” Reed said, emphasizing that the upper hall of the Knights of Columbus can seat hundreds of people.
