Monday’s Catholic Central League track and field championships came with some home cooking as the Bishop Fenwick girls (126 points) won on their home course. St. Mary’s girls (100) finished third.
In boys action, the second-place Spartans (126) were narrowly defeated by Archbishop Williams (127), while Fenwick (42) checked in at sixth place.
First-place finishers for Fenwick were Adelaide Sweatman (2-mile – 12:55.17), Kyleigh Pidgeon (discus – 100-01), Jane Koulopoulos (javelin – 86-08), and the girls 4x400m relay team of Julia Davis, Amanda Moric, Olivia Rowe, and Marianna Kay (4:26.08).
Receiving first-place nods for St. Mary’s were William Potter (800m – 2:03.73), McKenna O’Connell (800m – 2:26.12), Kelsey Kwiatek (mile – 5:16.94), and Jason Perry (high jump – 6-00; triple jump – 42-08).
Three St. Mary’s relay teams also took first: the boys 4x400m team of Devin Duval, Lucian Paula, Potter, and Jimmy Jennings (3:35.15); the boys 4x800m team of Kevin Cahill, Matthew Nolan, Nicholas Fusco, and Xavier Paula (9:10.36); and the girls 4x800m team of Mia Tatis, Christina Leuzzi, Nina Lopes, and O’Connell (11:04.89).
It’s a quick turnaround for St. Mary’s, which will participate in Tuesday’s Lynn All-City Track and Field Championship, slated for 3 p.m. at Manning Field.

In its regular season finale, St. Mary’s (17-3) pounced early and led 3-0 in the first inning. English cut the deficit to 4-2, but Jake Peterson roped an RBI double before Rolky Brea-Arias added another run as St. Mary’s took a commanding 7-2 lead in the fourth inning.

Fenwick (6-13) defended home turf and defeated Shawsheen (13-6) in Div. 3 preliminary action. Next up for the Crusaders is traditional archrival St. Mary’s (14-2) on Wednesday. Opening face-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Manning Field.
