LYNN — One of the largest unions in Massachusetts awarded a Lynn resident with a scholarship on Monday to help support his college career.
Peter Prentiss, of Lynn, received a scholarship from Teamsters Local 25, which awarded 37 scholarships, totaling $74,000, to children and grandchildren of members and retirees. These scholarships were created to offer financial support in academic pursuits.
Prentiss, the son of Teamster Local 25 member Thomas Prentiss, will be attending Loyola University Maryland this fall with the help of the largest scholarship announcement in the union’s history.
“We have the strongest membership in the country and among the most generous when it comes to supporting the children of our members,” Teamsters Local 25 President Tom Mari said. “Our union has always believed in uplifting the next generation.”
The union’s scholarship awards are funded from member donations and local Massachusetts companies, including Feinberg, Dumont & Brennan, Hilb Group Inc, Regan Associates, Chartered, Keches Law Group, Regan Communications Group, multiple Teamster-organized groups, and several memorials.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been awarded to annual scholarship funding to Teamsters Local 25 members’ children and grandchildren since 2006.
“Our message to the 2026 scholarship recipients is simple: Your future is bright, and your Teamster family will be with you every step of the way,” Mari said.
