LYNN — A Lynn boy is teaming up with his mom, a local florist, to raise money for summer programs by selling lemonade.
Moises Garcia has been operating a lemonade stand several days each week at the corner of Cherry and Ocean streets. His mother, Ginett Garcia, said they also hope to set up the stand during festivals at Lynn Beach, where they’ll be serving what she proudly calls “the best lemonade in the city.”
“We just wanted to start something, bring the community in, and serve great lemonade,” Garcia said.
The proceeds will help Moises attend a basketball camp and participate in programming with the Young Soldiers Success Group in Salem. Beyond raising money, Garcia said the lemonade stand has become a valuable learning experience for her son.
“I’m teaching him a little bit of everything — confidence, money handling, and social skills,” she said.
Garcia said the community has embraced the stand since it opened.
“We’ve had a great response from the community, and they want us back out there,” she said. “Some people have even asked what days we’ll be serving lemonade. I think it’s a pretty cool thing, and we just like bringing the community together.”
Garcia is no stranger to running a small business. While her work isn’t based in citrus, she is the floral designer behind the pop-up studio Blooms Off Parkway, serving clients across the North and South Shore. Her work can be viewed on Instagram @BloomsOffParkway.
