LYNNFIELD — State Rep. Bradley Jones has announced that he will not be running for reelection this year after being elected 17 times and serving in office for 32 years.
Jones, who has been the current House minority leader since 2002, has maintained a perfect voting record since taking the oath of office in 1994, with more than 8,180 roll call votes.
In a statement, Jones thanked his constituents for allowing him to serve for so long, continuing that he was proud of his record and that he believes “this is a reflection of my commitment to my constituents.”
Jones also took pride in his time serving his community, having worked with local public officials, community volunteers, and committed advocates.
“Together, we have brought countless local initiatives and projects to completion, improving the facilities and services across the district,” he stated, thanking residents of Reading, North Reading, Lynnfield, and Middleton for welcoming him into their homes and neighborhoods.
Jones also thanked his colleagues in the Republican caucus for the privilege of serving as minority leader for 24 years, as well as his staff members for their support over the years.
“Working with so many talented and dedicated members, often across the aisle, on a wide range of important issues over the years has been rewarding and inspiring… Constituent services has always been paramount, and together, we have assisted thousands of residents and helped them navigate state agencies,” he stated.
During his time in the House, Jones has been committed to tax relief, accountability in government, fiscal restraint, and smarter spending. He has advocated for tougher laws on crime, improved educational opportunities for Massachusetts children, better benefits for seniors and veterans, and more local aid for cities and towns.
Jones will continue to serve out his term until he leaves office in January 2027.
