Strong pitching and eight runs typically do the trick. Such was the case for Lynnfield’s baseball team, which defeated Triton 8-5 on Thursday. Coach John O’Brien and his Pioneers improved to 2-1.
Harris Hadzihasanovic (4 IP, 4 H, 5 K, 3 ER) and Paul Tappan (4 K) split duties on the bump.
“The defense played very well behind them,” O’Brien said. “Jared Burke played well at third (base) and the kids all played well. We were very patient at the plate, which was good.”
Next up for Lynnfield is Saturday’s road game against Essex Tech. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m.
