You know what I’ve been thinking? Even though the Red Sox weren’t plating many runs last week, a high school team in Lynn certainly was.
The Lynn Tech Tigers not only played four games across six days, but went 4-0 and outscored opponents 59-10. (Heck. That statistic would’ve been impressive in football, too.)
Coach Eddie Lewis and his boys clipped Rockport, Northeast Metro, Notre Dame Cristo Rey, and Minuteman last week. Two games were played at Fraser Field, while a pair of wins came on enemy diamonds.
Tech tallied 10 runs in the first inning against Northeast, followed by an 11-run second inning. Eddie Lewis Jr. (4-for-4), Colin Newhall (4-for-4), and Christopher Boyd (3-for-5) made noise at the plate.
Days later, against Notre Dame, the Tigers plated a run in every inning. With strength and speed on display, Jacob Garcia and Newhall caught eyes with inside-the-park homers.
“I’m very proud of the way the guys are looking. They’re playing good baseball early, which is what we want,” said Lewis Sr. “We’re trying to emphasize making sure that we’re swinging early and often to keep the bats going. It’s been helping us produce a lot of runs and the guys are seeing the ball well.”
Tech, good week.
