LTTE: Wayne Godfrey: A true listener

To the editor

April 16, 2026 by To the editor

To the editor:

I am writing to express my strong support for Wayne Godfrey and to urge my neighbors to support his candidacy on Election Day on April 28.

Wayne Godfrey is a listener first. From his work in policy as a member of the Board of the National Human Rights Campaign to his budgetary and fiscal experience in both retail and real estate, Wayne Godfrey knows how to listen to people to understand not just their viewpoints, but their rationales, their fears, their stories, their hopes — all things that we need as we enter difficult fiscal times to maintain, as he calls it, the Promise of Swampscott.

At the same time, Wayne Godfrey is a uniter. His listening informs who he is as a leader and a decision maker. In times difficult for our country and our community, Wayne Godfrey is the right person to move our Select Board forward to leave arguments in the past and to move our town forward toward the future that we, the residents of Swampscott, deserve. Just look at who has his signs on their lawns around town — neighbors of ours who have been on different sides of just about every town issue can agree: Wayne Godfrey is the best choice for Select Board.

Signed,

Max and Nancy Hanlon
