LTTE: Wayne Spritz steps up

To the editor

April 14, 2026 by To the editor

To the editor:

Why am I endorsing Wayne Spritz in the upcoming election for Select Board?

The answer is quite simple. He’s done an outstanding job as a member of the Town Meeting for several years, but Wayne is better known for his incredible work as the Chair of the Swampscott Solid Waste Advisory Committee(SWAC). To see the importance of this committee, read its mission statement here. It is well worth reading before making a choice in this very important election.

SWAC has proven to be one of the best and most productive committees Swampscott has ever had, and Wayne Spritz has been Chair since its inception in 2021. If you want to talk trash, Wayne is your man. With all of his experience on this and other committees, Wayne will “hit the ground running” when elected. There have been many significant and beneficial changes in town during his years in Swampscott, and Wayne has been involved in almost every one of them. He is PRESENT.

Without a doubt, he has the credentials and the track record deserving of election. Select Board members should not have any personal agenda or represent anyone but the citizens of Swampscott. He is such a man. We need this man’s wisdom as an engineer, and we need his integrity. When I learned he was a candidate, I telephoned him to thank him for offering himself to help the community we all love. Wayne is the real deal. I know him, I admire his work on SWAC, and I trust him!

Wayne shares with me the strong belief that the Select Board has an obligation to produce, for your approval at Town Meeting, a budget that is fiscally responsible and sustainable, while serving the needs of the community. His financial acumen will be invaluable to the Board and the community. With a new Town Administrator and a relatively new financial team, Swampscott needs a proven team player who understands how to work with the rest of the team, but also hold them accountable to the best management of the town’s day-to-day operations.

Please vote for the candidate who has a proven skills set, intellect, and commitment needed to manage the challenges that lie ahead, as well as identify and take advantage of the opportunities that may arise. Vote for the candidate whose only agenda is doing what’s best for the town and us.

Sincerely,

Bill DiMento

Swampscott
