LTTE: In support of Wayne Spritz

To the editor

April 14, 2026 by To the editor

To the editor:

I am writing this letter to support Wayne Spritz for the Swampscott Select Board.

Over many years sitting at Town Meeting, I have listened to members speak on various issues. One Town Meeting Member has stood out above all others and that is Wayne Spritz. I didn’t know him well, but I was so impressed by his thoughtful, well-informed statements revealing an in-depth consideration of the issue at hand. Then last year, I happened to stand next to him at a town event. We started talking about our families, the town, and our experiences living in Swampscott, and I realized then that Wayne was more than just a responsible Town Meeting member; he is a committed resident who has spent years serving our Town trying to make it a better place for all of us to live.

Among Wayne’s contributions to our Town is his work as the Chair of our Solid Waste Committee, where he has spent years gaining information so that the Town can take the next steps to determine the best financial decision dealing with trash and recycling.  He contributed to the development of the Climate Action Plan to find ways to strengthen our resilience to the impact of climate change on our shoreline.
Wayne was the former chair of the Essex Tech Engineering Program Advisory for seven years, offering guidance in the development of the technical program at the school. Wayne finds ways to use his engineering background to help others.

I am thrilled that Wayne decided to run for the Select Board. Wayne is not a politician. He is a person who wants to serve our Town and help make decisions that will ensure the best outcomes to benefit the greater good. He seeks facts and will listen to others’ opinions. Wayne has knowledge about the critical issues that affect every household in our town. Wayne has an understanding of the fiscal needs that will continue to increase over the next few years and will work with other members of the Select Board to ensure that Swampscott is affordable for both young and old.

I honestly don’t think I have ever met someone running for office in whom I have so much trust. In these challenging times, we need intelligent, respectful, and dedicated town officials. Swampscott will be a better place for all of us if Wayne Spritz is elected to the Select Board.

Sincerely,

Martha Cesarz
Swampscott, MA
