Lynn Classical’s volleyball team (8-2) dropped its first Greater Boston League match to a talented Revere team 3-0 Wednesday. The Rams (5-1 GBL) lost in sets of 20-25, 16-25, and 18-25.
Kenzel Latano played well, finishing with 13 assists, eight digs, and a pair of kills for the Rams.
“Revere is an excellent team and they just wanted it more today. They outplayed us in all phases of the game. There is nothing we did better than them all day,” said Classical coach Chris LeBlanc. “It’s extremely disappointing to have one of your biggest matches of the year and we come out flat and never get our feet under us. Hopefully, our effort and execution is better tomorrow (Thursday) when we head to Lawrence.”

Marblehead’s Joy Meshulam and Emily Levine defeated Peabody’s Anna Mariel and Artemis Greko (6-3, 6-0) at first doubles. At second doubles, the Magicians doubled up as Harper Mooney and Annie Tucker defeated Shivann Galvin and Lilly Hunt (6-0.6-2)
In second singles, Peabody’s Tiffany Bettencourt got the better of Sophie Li in a nail-biter (3-6, 7-5, 10-7). However, Marblehead picked up wins at first singles with Samara Dosch beating Alexandra Kourtelidh (6-3, 6-1) and third singles with Lilly O’Keefe defeating Yasmelly Fernandez (6-1, 6-0).
“This was a solid win for us, Peabody is well-coached and a much-improved team. Lilly O’Keefe, at third singles, was super consistent and played her best match yet, so I was really proud of her,” said Marblehead coach Tracy Ackerman. “Emily Levine made her varsity debut match and pulled off a nice win in first doubles, anchored by her partner, Joy Meshulam. Now, we get into the meat of our schedule. Every match and every point counts in achieving our goal of playing in the postseason.”
