Mark Aboyoun

April 27, 2026 by Mark Aboyoun

It was rivalry day for Lynn Classical and Lynn English as the baseball and softball teams squared off Monday at Fraser Field and Breed Middle School. Lynn Classical earned bragging rights as its baseball team won 5-2, while the Lady Rams won 24-7.

Lynn Classical’s Braeden Ohanessian earned the win on the mound, pitching seven innings and allowing four hits, two walks, six strikeouts and one earned run. At the plate, Ohanessian went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

The Rams also got hits from Wagner Perez (2-for-3, triple, 2 runs and 2 stolen bases) and Gendri Pereyra (2-for-3, RBI).

Lynn English’s Angel Thomas was the starting pitcher, going six innings and giving up three earned runs on 10 hits. Thomas struck out three and walked one.

At the plate, Adriangel Santana went 1-for-1 with two RBIs for the Bulldogs. Julian Rodriguez, Josue Prandy and Diobel Guzman each registered a hit for Lynn English.

“Ohanessian did it all today. He had complete control on the mound and at the plate,” Lynn Classical head coach Jason Rogato said. “The team has complete confidence when Ohanessian takes the mound. He pounds the zone, and the defense has been great behind him.”

On the softball field, Lynn Classical was dominant.

Leading the way for the Rams was Brooke Braswell, who went 4-for-5 with four runs and two RBIs. Braswell is two hits shy of 100 career hits.

McKenna Duncan went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, while teammate Jodryn Matheson was 2-for-4 with three runs and four RBIs.

Both Divine Egbuta (3 RBI) and Rachel Kesselman notched their first varsity hits.

“It was a good team win today,” Rams coach Joe Morin said. “We play Revere tomorrow. Big game with a quick turnaround.”

Lynn English’s Cassandra Miranda went a perfect 3-for-3, including two doubles and a single, while teammate Yenelis Reyes also registered three hits. The Bulldogs finished with 11 total hits.

BASEBALL

St. Mary’s 13

Cardinal Spellman 3

With the win, St. Mary’s (8-1) has won eight straight since its opening-day loss.

Both Jake Peterson (2-for-3, 2 RBIs) and Rolky Brea-Arias (3-for-3, 4 RBIs) hit home runs to fuel the Spartans.

On the mound, JJ Avery pitched four innings, allowing no earned runs while striking out eight.

Mystic Valley 6

Lynn Tech 2

It was a one-run game going into the top of the seventh inning, but the Tigers allowed three runs, extending Mystic Valley’s lead to four — a hurdle Lynn Tech couldn’t overcome in the final half-inning.

SOFTBALL

St. Mary’s 2

Cardinal Spellman 1

Spartans pitcher Aliza Crean-Oviedo got the win in the circle, going seven innings while striking out five and walking one. She allowed just two hits.

The game was tied at one in the bottom of the fifth inning until a wild pitch scored a run to give the Spartans the lead.

The win moves St. Mary’s into first place in the Catholic Central League.
