Seaside Park was the place to be Saturday afternoon as Marblehead’s baseball team played host to Bishop Fenwick. After a hard-fought battle, the Crusaders returned home to Peabody with a 7-4 win.
Scoreless through two innings, each side scored a pair of runs through four. From there, Fenwick plated three in the fifth and two in the seventh to take control. With one last chance, Marblehead scored a run in the seventh, but it was too little, too late.
The Crusaders outhit Marblehead 9-7 and committed four fewer errors.
Andrew Kiricoples and Matthew Martisauskas roped two hits apiece for Fenwick, which received a strong performance from pitcher Nick McFadden (6 IP, 5 H, ER, 4 BB, 4 K).
Madden Lyons led Marblehead with a pair of hits, while Greyson Leventhal compiled another, plus a run scored.

Despite goals from Emerson Joy (2) and John von Barta, the Big Blue ran into trouble in Beverly. Swampscott’s Luke Michigan won 14 face-offs.
“Beverly got off to a hot start and we struggled to bounce back,” said Swampscott coach Geoff Beckett. “The boys battled as always, but Beverly was clicking on both sides of the ball.”

In enemy territory, the Spartans (5-4) rattled off their fourth consecutive win behind the defensive anchors of Cole Alexander, Zac Guelpa, Jack Hurley, and goalie Adam Fila.

Manchester-Essex used a 10-goal first half to escape Marblehead (4-7). Leading the Magicians were Addie Co Peeps (4 goals, assist), Zoe Dwyer (2 goals, assist), and Avery Wysor (2 goals, assist).
“Molly Bullard (16 saves) had an amazing game in net,” said Marblehead coach Annie Madden. “Defense, again, came to play and worked as a unit to break down ME’s offensive push. We came out a little too late for the win, but are still improving each day. I’m proud of our performance as we continue to grow.”
