Swampscott and Marblehead squared off at Seaside Park, with the Big Blue earning a 6-0 win.
Swampscott led 2-0 entering the top of the seventh before adding four insurance runs.
Chase Groothuis pitched six no-hit innings, allowing six walks while striking out 13 to earn the win. Jamison Ford pitched in relief, allowing one hit and striking out two. Ford also delivered a bases-clearing three-run double in the seventh inning to extend the lead.
Connor Chiarello walked three times, scored twice and stole a base for Swampscott. Michael Collins and second baseman Luc Tardif each added two hits.
Madden Lyons pitched six innings for Marblehead, allowing one earned run on five hits and three walks while striking out seven.
“We couldn’t get anything going at the plate, getting only two hits with 14 strikeouts,” Marblehead coach Mike Giardi said.
BASEBALL

Lynnfield 7
The Clippers scored eight of their 11 runs in the first two innings and never looked back as Lynnfield fell to 7-8.
“We struggled to hit, throw strikes and make plays,” Lynnfield coach John O’Brien said. “The kids got back into it, but it was too little, too late.”
Jared Burke pitched three innings and “did a great job,” according to O’Brien.
Jimmy Pasquale had two hits and two walks, while Ollie Morgan and Mike Hubbard each hit RBI doubles.

With the win, St. Mary’s (12-2) clinched the Catholic Central League title. The Spartans collected 12 hits and got solid pitching to defeat the Crusaders. Michael DeMaino, Nate Cutone and Rowan Merryman each had two hits.
Lucas Downey was lights out in relief, striking out four over 3 1/3 innings.

Home field was not enough as Saugus fell to Hamilton-Wenham.
Eighth-grader Jenna O’Donnell went 3-for-3 with a double, two singles, an RBI and a run scored. Maria Silva went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Sofia McCarrier, Angie Dow, Alannah Duong and Ari Chianca each recorded a hit.
“The kids continued to play hard. We just couldn’t find the holes today,” Saugus coach Steve Almquist said. “We’ll be back at it against Salem on Wednesday.”

The Rams fell behind 9-1 early and could not recover. Medford, the reigning Greater Boston League champion, has not lost a league game in two years.
Lynn Classical’s Brooke Braswell went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. Chloe Corbett also finished 2-for-3 with a run scored. Aysia Olaes added a two-run double.

Tessa Francis recorded her 700th career strikeout to help Marblehead earn its 10th win and clinch a postseason berth.
Francis allowed three hits while striking out 18. At the plate, she went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Tessa Andriano finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Aliza Crean-Oviedo earned the win in the circle, allowing three earned runs and striking out one over six innings as St. Mary’s improved to 11-3.
Jayla Walsh powered the Spartans offensively, going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run.

In a back-and-forth game at Manning Field, the Spartans fell just short. St. Mary’s entered the game riding a six-game winning streak after opening the season 1-4.

Marblehead (7-8) turned in a complete performance on senior night.
Zoe Dwyer scored nine goals, while Addie Co Peeps contributed two goals and two assists. Emma Ryan added two goals, and Sammy Walker filled the stat sheet with a hat trick, an assist, five draw controls and two ground balls.
Molly Bullard made nine saves for Marblehead.
“All season we have been working to put together a full 48 minutes of lacrosse and today we did it,” Marblehead coach Annie Madden said. “Everyone did what they needed to do in order to win for our seniors. Chloe Rowland, Avery Wysor, Avery Barbeau, Anna Rausch and Sofi Kannengeisser have led us all season and today the win was for them.”

Ty Cooper earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over Shane Widtfeldt at first singles, while TJ Kelly cruised past Trey Bushfield 6-1, 6-2 at second singles. Caleb Sidman battled back to win the second set before falling to Julian Nixon 6-3, 5-7, 2-6 at third singles.
In doubles play, Adam Loughlin and Alex Boehning dominated James Towne and Ethan Parisi 6-0, 6-2 at first doubles, while Cordt Menzler and Filip Wabno secured a 6-3, 6-2 win over Sam Young and Drew Ciolino at second doubles.

Lynnfield celebrated a milestone Monday afternoon as the Pioneers swept Amesbury on the road and first singles player Lily Alves earned her 60th career victory with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
Sami Khiat won at second singles, 7-5, 6-0, while Kathleen Brown took third singles, 6-4, 6-2.
Christine Choi and Vicky McCrann won 6-1, 6-2 at first doubles, while Olivia Asaad and Emma Wagon rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at second doubles.

Lynn Classical protected home court and improved to 12-4 overall and 9-2 in the Greater Boston League with a four-set win, 26-24, 14-25, 25-23, 25-23.
Kenzel Lantano recorded 34 assists and 16 digs, while Riches Tep added 13 kills and 10 digs. Long Pham contributed 21 digs and two assists while excelling in serve receive.
“Tonight was a really big win for the boys,” Lynn Classical coach Chris LeBlanc said. “Somerville comes hard every time and you need to find ways to fight off their runs because when they are on they are really difficult to stop.”
LeBlanc also credited Tep and Jon Chan for playing “excellent” on both offense and defense.

Madisen McHale placed third and earned a medal in the 800-meter race at the Greater Boston League championship meet in Chelsea, while teammate Dellyana Assade finished third in the long jump.
