MARBLEHEAD — Marblehead’s Tedesco Country Club has crowned its women’s champions. Kym Pappathanasi captured her 14th club title, while Christy Gable took home the 9-hole championship.
Pappathanasi, a model of consistency across the three-day tournament, edged newcomer Sarah Jones as the two went shot for shot on day one. On day two, Pappathanasi built a seven-shot lead before shooting a 79 in her final round.
It was anyone’s 9-hole championship after day one as five players were within six strokes of the lead. Gable and Traci Howe were knotted at the top of the leaderboard. The two battled back and forth on day two, but in the end, Gable delivered in the clutch.
