To the editor:
Swampscott needs Select Board members who can evaluate complex issues, weigh trade-offs, and make decisions that hold up over time.
That’s why I’m supporting Wayne Spritz.
Wayne brings something we don’t always see at the local level — technical expertise paired with long-term community involvement. As an engineer, he approaches decisions through data and analysis, not reaction. And as a longtime Swampscott volunteer, he understands how those decisions actually play out for residents.
His track record reflects that. He’s helped secure over $1 million in Green Community funding, worked on recycling and solid waste initiatives, and been involved in addressing water quality and infrastructure challenges. These aren’t talking points — they’re the kinds of issues that require patience, discipline, and follow-through.
Equally important, Wayne understands the financial side of town governance. He recognizes the pressures facing Swampscott and the need to balance investment with fiscal responsibility — without losing sight of what makes this town work.
Good governance isn’t about being the loudest voice in the room. It’s about making sound decisions, consistently, with a clear understanding of both the data and the community.
Wayne Spritz brings that perspective, and he’s earned serious consideration.
Sincerely,
Linda Hayes
Swampscott Resident
