The St. Mary’s girls lacrosse team claimed the Catholic Central League title Saturday at Manning Field with a 23-6 win over Cardinal Spellman.
The Spartans won the CCL outright for the first time since 2010.
Leading the charge was Ava Nason, who scored eight goals and added three assists, while teammate Shaye Denning chipped in five goals and two assists.
Tatym Driscoll and Rayne Spain each netted their first varsity goals in the win.
On Sunday, the Spartans traveled to Arlington Catholic and defeated the Cougars 13-2. Denning scored five goals for St. Mary’s. The Spartans went unbeaten in conference play.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Marblehead 14
Tewksbury 6
Zoe Dwyer, despite being only a sophomore, scored seven goals and netted her 100th career goal Saturday morning to power Marblehead past Tewksbury.
Marblehead led 9-2 at halftime and never looked back.
Addie Co Peeps (4 goals, assist), Avery Barbeau (goal), Maggie Svencer (goal) and Sydney Moniz (goal) all scored for the Magicians.
BASEBALL
Saugus 7
Malden 4
In the first round of the Strike Out Colon Cancer tournament, the Sachems scored seven runs on nine hits to defeat Malden at East Boston Memorial Stadium.
Eli Fialho, Brayden Crawford, Donny Santostefano and Garrett Peavey each recorded at least one RBI in the win.
Jordan Rodriguez pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief, allowing two hits while striking out four and not surrendering a run.
Saugus 9
Revere 5
In the championship game, the Sachems racked up 15 hits to defeat Revere.
Rodriguez got things started for Saugus with an RBI single in the top of the first inning to score the game’s first run.
In the top of the sixth inning, Crawford, Fialho and Chris Mazin all hit singles as the Sachems took an 8-5 lead and never looked back.
Marblehead 4
Danvers 3
Marblehead (10-8) secured another walk-off victory with a home win over the Falcons. The victory clinched a state tournament berth for the Magicians.
Despite Marblehead leading 3-2 in the top of the seventh inning, Danvers scored to tie the game heading into the bottom half of the inning.
In the final frame, Ethan Howard drew a walk before advancing to second on a bunt. Howard later moved to third on a wild pitch.
Marblehead had runners on second and third, but Danvers forced back-to-back groundouts to move within one out of extra innings. James Machdao then stepped to the plate and delivered a game-winning RBI single to left field to score Owen Coyne.
Lynnfield 10

Lynnfield’s Harris Hadzihasanovic got the start and pitched four innings, while teammate Chase McEwen earned the win in relief Saturday.
Dylan Nguyen had a single and a double while driving in three runs, and Oliver Morgan added a single and a three-RBI triple to lead the Pioneers. Mikey Hubbard, James Pasquale and Evan Gately also recorded RBIs.
Amesbury 6
Lynnfield 4
Lynnfield committed four errors and stranded seven runners Sunday in its loss to Amesbury.
Nguyen and Hubbard each had RBI hits. Lynnfield managed just five hits on the day.
SOFTBALL
Gloucester 12
Saugus 0
It was a tough Saturday for the Sachems, who fell to a talented Gloucester team.
Saugus junior captain Sydney Deleidi went 1-for-2, while sophomore Julia Strout finished 1-for-1 for the team’s only hits.
“We’ll bounce back on Monday. The kids continue to play hard, and we will need to win two of our last three games to qualify for the state tournament,” Saugus coach Steve Almquist said.

The Shamrocks scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning to take an early lead against St. Mary’s.
The Spartans answered in the top of the third when Abbey Sousa (2-for-4) hit a solo home run to center field, followed by Sydney Wells’ RBI double to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Bishop Feehan added insurance runs and kept the Spartans at a distance to secure the win.
BOYS TENNIS
Marblehead 5
Danvers 0
The Magicians swept the Falcons to improve to 13-2.
Both Ty Cooper (first singles) and Alex Boehning (third singles) won their matches without dropping a set, 6-0, 6-0.
TJ Kelly earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles. At first doubles, Cordt Menzler and Finn Bowen won 6-0, 6-1, while Jeff Kucharsky and Griffin Waller earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory at second doubles.

Beverly 0
Marblehead (14-2) defeated Beverly on Sunday.
Kelly and Cooper each won their matches 6-0, 6-0, while Boehning earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at third singles.
At first doubles, Adam Loughlin and Menzler teamed up for a 6-2, 6-4 win. Bowen and Kucharsky won at second doubles, 6-1, 6-2.
GIRLS TENNIS
Lynnfield 5
North Reading 0
The Pioneers swept a doubleheader against North Reading, posting two 5-0 victories over the Hornets.
Lily Alves won 6-2, 6-2 at first singles in the first matchup before following with a 6-1, 7-6 (7) victory in the second.
Kami Khiat earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at second singles in the opener and followed with a 7-5, 6-1 victory.
At first doubles, Lynnfield’s Christine Choi and Kathleen Brown won 6-1, 6-3 in the first match. In the second match, Choi teamed with Vicky McCrann for a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
